Alpha access

Alpha terms

These terms cover the PianoScribe closed alpha. They are deliberately short and say what you can expect from us and what we expect from you.

Last updated: 13 September 2026

What this is

An invitation-only test of unfinished software. Access needs a one-use code tied to your email address. Features can change or disappear, and we may end the alpha or withdraw an invitation at any time. We do not promise the service will be available, and you should not rely on it for anything that matters.

Keep your own copies

Keep original copies of anything you upload. We take backups, but this is an alpha and we do not guarantee your work against loss.

What you upload

Only upload music you have the right to use. That means your own compositions and arrangements, public-domain editions, or material you are licensed to use. Uploading copyrighted sheet music or recordings you have no right to is not permitted, and we will remove material and withdraw access if we are told about an infringement.

Your files stay yours. You give us permission to store and process them only so we can provide the service to you: convert them, generate practice material, and show them back to you. We do not use your uploads to train models and we do not share them.

What we produce

Scores, MIDI and practice plans are generated automatically and will contain mistakes. Check anything before you rely on it, perform from it or share it. Audio-to-score transcription is experimental and is not currently open to testers.

Practice feedback is guidance, not tuition. Microphone input in particular detects one note at a time and is approximate.

Fair use of the service

Alpha accounts have limits on uploads, transcription and assistant questions. Do not try to work around them, share your invitation code, resell access, or use the service to build a competing dataset.

Payments during the alpha

Alpha checkout runs in test mode. No real money is taken and no real card is charged. If we ever start charging for real, we will say so clearly beforehand and you will have to agree to it.

Ending it

You can stop at any time – email us and we will delete your account and your files. We can withdraw an invitation if these terms are broken.

Liability

The alpha is provided as-is, with no warranty. We are not liable for lost work, lost time or any indirect loss arising from using it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
